Barangays
  1. BAQUIOEN
-During the early days, this place was noted for the manufacture of chicken nest made of bamboos and buhos or “bolo” in Pangasinan and Ilocano which were abundant in the area. The nest is called “BAQUI” in Ilocano. One time, a stranger, who was in need of chicken nest, went to the place to order. The vendor signified his acceptance of the order by saying “OEN”, which is the Ilocano word for “YES”. The man thought that “OEN” was the name of the place and when he got home and was asked if he was able to order the chicken nests, he answered, “Yes, I was able to order “BAQUI” from “OEN”. So putting the two words together, the place was called “BAQUIOEN”.

  1.  BAYBAY NORTE
- This barrio is located along the coastal area at the northernmost tip of the town. The sea is called “BAYBAY” in Ilocano and Pangasinan. Upon realizing that the area was too large, the residents petitioned the local officials to split the barrios into two. With the legislative act that granted their request, they were named “BAYBAY NORTE” and “BAYBAY SUR”. In Spanish, NORTE means North and SUR means South.
  1. BAYBAY SUR
  1. BOLAOEN
-This is the name of a hardwood tree that belongs to the first group of trees in the forest and this barrio had a great share of this kind. It is called “BOLAOEN” in Pangasinan, “MOLAVE” in Spanish and “SAGAT” in Ilocano.
  1.  CABALITIAN
-It was formerly a part of Barrio Baquioen but the inhabitants, owing to its location as an island, had a difficult time voting there. So the local authorities caused the separation of that islandportion of Baquioen to constitute an independent barrio with its own voting center. The place had an abundance of BALETE trees so it was given the name “CABALITIAN”.

  1.  CALOMBUYAN
-This was the place where one can find lots of fruit-bearing trees called “DUHAT” in Tagalog, “LOMBOY” in Pangasinan and “LONGBOY” in Ilocano. “CALOMBUYAN” literally means “a placewhere there is an abundance of Lomboy”. The barrio must have been named before the coming of the Ilocanos because the Pangasinan term was preferred.
  1.  CAMAGSINGALAN
-The first settlers of this barrio migrated from the town of Magsingal in Ilocos Sur. They were looking for vast lands to cultivate and fortunately came to Sual. Therefore, the literal meaning of Camagsingalan is a place where the inhabitants are from Magsingal.
  1.  CAOAYAN
-This is the local name of Bamboo, which the place has an abundance of.
  1.  CAPANTOLAN
-Just like Calombuyan, this place is named after the abundance of “SANTOL” trees (“PANTOL” in Pangasinan).
  1. MACAYCAYAWAN
-The place derived its name from the story that during the early days, there was a big tree that grew in the area with splendid branches that spread out to give shade to people  who would go near it. People found it captivating, romantic and “MACAYCAYAWAN” which means alluring.
  1. PAITAN EAST
-This barrio, with Brgy. Paitan West, used to be parts of one big barrio until the residents petitioned the Municipal Council to split it into two. There was an abundance of trees in the area locally called “DALIPAOEN” in Ilocano whose bitter sap was used as medicine to cure malaria. The word “bitter” means “PAIT” in the local dialect. Hence, “PAITAN” literally means “having a bitter taste”.
  1. PAITAN WEST
  1.  PANGASCASAN
-Since its shoreline location is suitable for salt-making, most of its residents rely on salt-making as their source of income. It is said that one stage of the process is to scratch the surface on the sandy ground. This scratching action is called “CASCAS”  in Pangasinan and Ilocano and “PANGASCASAN” literally means “the place where you do the scratching”.
  1. POBLACION
-In Spanish, “POBLACION” means the center of the town. In the oden days, the Poblacion of Sual was known and referred to as barrio Sual of San Isidro Labrador.
  1.  SESELANGEN
-When Alaminos was still part of Zambales and bounded by Sual, it being the westernmost town of Pangasinan, both of these towns had adjacent barrios with a common name “CABATUAN”. So there was barrio Cabatuan in Alaminos and barrio Cabatuan in Sual. To do away with the confusion, the residents of Cabatuan in Sual changed its name to “SESELANGEN”, which literally means “the place of the rising sun”.
  1.  SIOASIO EAST
-Owing to the forested location of the place and the abundance of the wiled
Bamboos called “bolo” that was primitively used as fishing rods, the place derived its name from these gadgets called “SIAOSIO” or “Iew-Iew” in Ilocano. The former this barrio was “IOASIO” but was later renamed after the separation of east and west. The Municipal Council granted the residents’ petition to split Ioasio into two barrios so as to receive more national government assistance.
  1.  SIOASIO WEST
1  -This is the only barrio in Sual which is named after a saint because its early inhabitants came from the town of Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur.
  1.  VICTORIA
-This place used to be the western part of barrio Bolaoen, but in ithe early 1960’s, its residents petitioned for its separation from the mother barrio because they were unhappy about the unpleasant political rivalry between the western and eastern camps.
